PREPARE FOR THE COMING OF CHRIST
The Advent season is a time of preparation that directs our hearts and minds to Christ’s second coming at the end of time and to the anniversary of Our Lord’s birth on Christmas. The readings for the Second Sunday of Advent are a call to repentance. In the first reading, we hear a savior will bring change to our world. In the second reading, we are told to be more welcoming to one another. In the gospel, John the Baptist warns the people to change their ways.

QUE DEBEMOS HACER.
En este Segundo Domingo de Adviento nos estamos preparando para la venida plena de Cristo a nuestras comunidades y al mundo. Tenemos que ser hombres y mujeres llenos del Espíritu de Cristo. -- Isaías y Juan el Bautista anunciaron al Salvador como un hombre totalmente lleno del Espíritu de Dios. Él nos bautizaría con el Espíritu de fuego. – A nosotros también nos dice Juan: Que el Espíritu de fuego cambie la mente y mentalidad de ustedes, sus actitudes, su forma de vida, para que Jesús pueda vivir realmente entre ustedes para hacer de este mundo un lugar de unidad e integridad, de justicia y paz.
Veamos algunas sugerencias para vivir este adviento dando una respuesta humana y cristiana ante mis necesidades, las de los demás y las que la Iglesia me pone día a día. Por ejemplo podríamos hacer alguna de estas cosas , muy prácticas y sencillas, muy reales.
Agradecer a Dios habernos regalado a las personas con las que convivimos.
Buscar el bien común por encima de los intereses personales. Corregir con empatía a aquél que se equivoca.
Dar lo mejor de uno mismo, poniéndose siempre al servicio de los otros.
Estimar a los otros, sabiendo reconocer sus capacidades. Facilitar las cosas dando soluciones y no creando más problemas.
Ganar la confianza de los otros compartiendo con ellos sus preocupaciones.
Heredar la capacidad de aquellos que saben ser sinceros con valentía y respeto.
Interceder por los otros a Dios, antes de hablarle de nuestras cosas. Juzgar a los otros por lo que son, no por lo que tienen ni por lo que aparentan.
Limitar las ansias personales frente a las necesidades del grupo. Llenarse con lo mejor que uno encuentra en el camino de la vida.
Mediar entre los compañeros que no se entienden. Olvidar el miedo al "qué dirán".
Preocuparse por los más débiles y los más necesitados. Querer siempre el bien de las personas.
Respetar las opiniones de los demás. Salir al encuentro del otro, no esperando que él dé el primer paso.
Aprovechemos la oportunidad que nos da el adviento, Paz y bien.

Step Into The Discovering Christ Experience
Starting January 2023
Discovering Christ is a seven-week experience where anyone and everyone, from the baptized in the pews to the unbaptized, is invited to hear the Good News and personally encounter Jesus Christ.
Topics include: What is the Meaning of Life? Why Does Jesus Matter? What Does Jesus Want Us To Know? Our Need for the Church.
Discovering Christ is on Wednesday nights from 6-8:30 pm and includes dinner, praise & worship/prayer time, video teaching, and small group discussion. There is also a one-day Sunday retreat. Childcare is available upon request. There is no cost for this experience.

Descubrir a Cristo es una experiencia de siete semanas en la que todos, desde los bautizados en las bancas hasta los no bautizados, están invitados a escuchar las Buenas Nuevas y encontrarse personalmente con Jesucristo. Los temas incluyen: ¿Cuál es el sentido de la vida? ¿Por qué importa Jesús? ¿Qué quiere Jesús que sepamos? Nuestra necesidad de la Iglesia. Descubriendo a Cristo consiste en sesiones nocturnas de siete semanas y un retiro de fin de semana de un día. Las sesiones semanales son los miércoles de 6 a 8:30 pm e incluyen: una comida, alabanza y adoración/tiempo de oración, una enseñanza en video y una discusión en grupos pequeños, con cuidado de niños disponible a pedido. El retiro es un domingo. No habrá que pagar nada.

Spread the Joy of the Lord with Christmas Help us prepare for the birth of our Lord by spreading His joy through Christmas Caroling on December 9 at 6:30 pm. Meet at the Parish Hall for some Hot Coco and treats and then caravan to different homes where we will sing Christmas Carols. All singing voices are welcome.

As our OLG community grows in discipleship, we are excited to add a new member to our Evangelization and Faith Formation team. We are looking for a motivated individual who is interested in walking alongside families seeking to grow in their faith and become lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ with a special focus on elementary to high school age youth.
Our current team operates in a friendly, flexible, and exciting working environment, and is seeking to add a faithful member to collaborate on retreats, faith formation sessions, mission work, and much more. Qualified candidates should be called by God and willing to work as a team member and feel a real passion for helping others discover, follow, and share Jesus Christ. A background in religious education, family ministry, youth ministry, other related fields, and bilingual (Spanish and English) is helpful, but God’s call and anointing is the most necessary.
This position can be either part-time or full-time, with additional benefits. The ministry position does require working some evenings and on weekends, but somewhat flexible working in coordination with other team members.
