El Espíritu lo llevó por el desierto
En nuestra lógica de las tentaciones creemos que allí donde sabemos que está la tentación o el mal pensamos que no debe estar el Espíritu. Por eso, nos resulta muy extraña la decisión de que Jesús fuera guiado por el Espíritu hacia al desierto dado que allí es tentado.
Es lógico pensar que el Espíritu debería defender a Jesús de las tentaciones, salvarlo del poder del mal, de la desolación… En cambio, no. El evangelista Lucas transforma nuestro modo de pensar el cómo deberían ser las cosas. ¿Por qué lo hace así? Porque la experiencia del desierto es la experiencia de encontrarnos a nosotros mismos en nuestra más cruda verdad. Una persona cuando está en crisis, cuando se encuentra en desolación significa que está tocando el propio límite, su propia debilidad, la propia fragilidad. Por tanto, está haciendo un profundo baño de realismo de sí mismo. Tristemente esta experiencia no nos gusta, nos es agradable sentirnos débiles y frágiles porque no nos gusta mirarnos con tal sinceridad. Quizás este es el motivo por el que no nos gusta ni el desierto ni la desolación. Son cinco semanas para nosotros para nuestra vida de relacion con Dios y los demas. no las dejes pasar sin hacer nada. Bendiciones.

ALMSGIVING OPPORTUNITIES
During Lent, we are asked to focus more intently on "almsgiving," which means donating money or goods to the poor and performing other acts of charity. As one of the three pillars of Lenten practice, almsgiving is "a witness to fraternal charity" and "a work of justice pleasing to God." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 2462). Here are some suggested Almsgiving opportunities;
Catholic Relief Services
Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is the organization chosen by the U.S. Catholic Bishops to serve our most impoverished brothers and sisters around the world. CRS is in 117 countries doing exactly that. They provide food, education, and medicine to the world’s poorest countries. In doing so, some of the work also supports U.S. farmers. But beyond mere aid, CRS provides help to struggling populations with sustainable development, encouraging them to become more self-sufficient.
Forty-five percent of CRS funding comes from donations, principally RICE BOWL. Fifty-five percent of the aid has come from grants through USAID. As you probably know, that grant money is now in jeopardy, pending court and political decisions. As money is stopped or delayed millions of people around the world are affected, and many CRS employees have or may be laid off. CRS programs have been greatly affected and are hoping to be able to continue.
Your help is needed more than ever. Please help us to make these words come true: “I was hungry and you gave me food.” Rice Bowl is celebrating 50 years this year. It is a wonderful program and an unparalleled way to enrich your Lenten Practices. There are recipes, stories, and prayer suggestions to deepen your connection to Our Loving God and those in other countries. Please participate this year, and by all means, please be as generous as you are able. Millions of hungry people are counting on you.

First, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles will join local Churches around the world in 24 Hours for the Lord. A church in each of the 20 deaneries of the Archdiocese will remain open for 24 hours for confession and prayer from Friday morning, March 28 - Saturday morning, March 29. PILGRIMAGE of HOPE
Second, on Saturday, April 5, 2025, the Church will take to the streets of Los Angeles on a seven-mile Pilgrimage of Hope. The walk to the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels will begin at 8:00 AM at All Souls Church in Alhambra, with stops at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Rose Hill, and Our Lady Help of Christians. Upon arrival at the cathedral, Archbishop Gomez will celebrate Mass; bus transportation from the cathedral to All Souls will be available at 1 PM. The relics of several saints, including the soon-to-be canonized Bl. Carlo Acutis, will accompany us on our journey. Click here for more information and to register.

BUILD THE NEW CHURCH STAIRS
We have fully paid off our construction loan! We are debt free! This is a great accomplishment, and we thank everyone. We are Blessed, and I am Grateful!
We are in a position to finish the last step of the Building Our Faith campaign with the new stairs from the church to the Portico.
These New Stairs will provide
1. Easy access to events in The Portico and MPR after Masses,
2. a safe way for parents to walk toddlers to The Portico who need a break during Mass,
3. and these stairs will become the main entrance to the church from the parking lot, using the elevator or school staircase to come up, walk past STEM Lab and MPR, through The Portico and into the church.
We are counting on the income from those still paying their outstanding pledges to build these new stairs. We will give ourselves a loan from our reserves to start as soon as possible, hopefully in a few months. Since the original design of a simple staircase, we have expanded the project to include all that was listed just above. Because of this, and because of inflation, we are going to fall short of paying ourselves back. Would you be willing to help a bit more to finish this project?

Sewing Volunteers Needed
The OLG school theater department is looking for volunteers who have sewing ability to help pin, hem, and take in costumes for our theater department.
Costume fittings will take place on Sunday, March 23 in the OLG Hall from 10 am to 3 pm with five students coming every 20 minutes. It would be wonderful to be to finish the adjustments that day. Note: We will not be building any costumes from scratch, just making adjustments to the current inventory

At Holy Fire, middle school Catholics are invited and challenged to embrace their baptismal call and the powerful, relevant gospel of Jesus. Through talks by dynamic speakers, witness by peers, inspirational praise and worship, and rich experiences of the Sacraments, Holy Fire helps young people feel seen, welcomed, and invited into a life changing commitment to Christ. NATIONAL VOCATION AWARENESS WEEK
November 5-11, 2023 is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.
PATHWAY TO DISCIPLESHIP WRAP UP & WHAT’S NEXT EVENING
Peace to our Disciples of Jesus Christ who have participated in our first Pathway to Discipleship! You are invited to a one-evening reunion, to catch up with one another and learn more opportunities on how you can continue the journey.
The gathering will be on Wednesday November 29th from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. Like other sessions, we will provide a meal, childcare, Praise & Worship, a presentation, prayer time, and small group discussion. The topics presented will be how to continue your spiritual growth as individuals or in groups, and/or join in our parish ministry of evangelization or serve the parish in other ways. Please join us! Jesus is calling us Deeper. He promises to restore and renew his people. This Eucharist Revival Kick-Off will speak about the National Movement, Revival at OLG, and experience our Lord through Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. All are invited!
Reception begins on the OLG Portico at 6:30 PM followed by a dynamic evening in the church.

Hop on board the Eucharistic Caravan to walk with Our Lord through the streets of San Francisco as pilgrims move towards Indianapolis for the National Eucharistic Congress this July. A pilgrimage is the simultaneous
movement of feet and soul to encounter God. This is a journey WITH Jesus. With the gift of the Eucharist, Jesus gave us a new way to walk alongside him. Do you want to accompany Jesus this May?

This weekend in lieu of the Maintenance Fund, OLG will hold a special collection for the Holy Land Emergency Relief Fund, to help those who are going through extreme difficulties in Gaza and Israel.
