Un mensaje del p. Carlos
La cuaresma es el tiempo litúrgico de las propuestas , de las tareas familiares y personales. Hoy nos propone ir a la montaña, la semana pasada fue el desierto, son lugares en que te puedes sentir muy cómodo , pero también muy incómodo. ¿Por qué? Te están pidiendo que vayas a tu montaña o a tu desierto, no es tanto que busques un lugar físico, sino más bien, un lugar en tu interior. Donde puedas conocerte más, revisarte, proponerte tareas, descubrir fortalezas o debilidades. Todo esto para que sigas subiendo o caminando y venzas los obstáculos que pueden presentarse en la vida propia y especialmente a nivel familiar y espiritual. Es un llamado de atención a limpiarnos, estar a solas, dejar que podamos escuchar la voz de Dios, mi conciencia, mi examen .
El momento que viven los tres apóstoles es muy intenso, por ello Pedro ofrece al Señor construir «tres carpas»: una para Jesús, otra para Moisés, otra para Elías. Se consideraba que una de las características de los tiempos mesiánicos era que los justos vivirán en carpas o tiendas. La manifestación de la gloria de Jesucristo en su transfiguración sería interpretada por Pedro como el signo palpable de que ha llegado el tiempo mesiánico, su manifestación.
La nube está siempre ahí con nosotros solo que no la dejamos que baje y que nos haga hablar, significa la presencia de Dios mismo. Esa es la tienda sagrada y Dios la cubre ahora. Y claro desde la nube al igual que Moieses podremos escuchar su voz, que nos habla de muchas cosas y nos reta al cambio y a desocupar la tienda de aquello que no es Dios y a dejar habitarse por Dios. Dejemos que Él venga y nos habite, que nos ocupe, que nos invada. Bendiciones de Paz y Bien.

First, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles will join local Churches around the world in 24 Hours for the Lord. A church in each of the 20 deaneries of the Archdiocese will remain open for 24 hours for confession and prayer from Friday morning, March 28 - Saturday morning, March 29. PILGRIMAGE of HOPE
Second, on Saturday, April 5, 2025, the Church will take to the streets of Los Angeles on a seven-mile Pilgrimage of Hope. The walk to the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels will begin at 8:00 AM at All Souls Church in Alhambra, with stops at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Rose Hill, and Our Lady Help of Christians. Upon arrival at the cathedral, Archbishop Gomez will celebrate Mass; bus transportation from the cathedral to All Souls will be available at 1 PM. The relics of several saints, including the soon-to-be canonized Bl. Carlo Acutis, will accompany us on our journey. Click here for more information and to register.
Prayer Petitions for the Way of St. James
One of the most popular Catholic shrines in the world is the Shrine of Santiago de Compostella in Spain. It is visited by millions of pilgrims from around the world as the traditional tomb of St. James the Apostle, whose feast day is July 25th. Many pilgrims get there by way of the famous “Camino Walk”, a six-day and seventy-two-mile trek in the tradition of pilgrims who traveled to venerate one of the first disciples of Jesus. There is also a tradition to carry the scallop shell, the symbol of the Way of St. James.
This coming May 1-6, I will be in Spain with friends from OLG to make the Camino Walk in observance of the Year of Hope and my 35th anniversary of my ordination to the priesthood. I will also be making the walk on my 11 month anniversary of my surgery for kidney cancer, which thankfully remains in remission. I invite you to join me in prayer by sending your prayer petitions which I will carry with me on my walk and which will be deposited in the petition receptacle at the shine. If you wish to send a prayer petition for me to carry in my Camino Walk, please complete this online form or send by snail mail to the OLG parish office at 244 Prospect Avenue, Hermosa Beach, CA. Please send them by April 15th.

Uno de los santuarios católicos más populares del mundo es el Santuario de Santiago de Compostela en España. Del 1 al 6 de mayo, estaré en España con amigos de OLG para hacer el Camino de Santiago en conmemoración del Año de la Esperanza (“Year of Hope”) y mi 35 aniversario de mi ordenación sacerdotal. También haré la caminata en mi aniversario de 11 meses de mi cirugía por cáncer de riñón, que afortunadamente sigue en remisión. Les invito a unirse a mí en la oración enviando sus peticiones de oración que llevaré conmigo en mi camino y que serán depositadas en el receptáculo de peticiones del santuario. ALMSGIVING OPPORTUNITIES
During Lent, we are asked to focus more intently on almsgiving, here are some suggested opportunities:
Catholic Relief Services
Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is the organization chosen by the U.S. Catholic Bishops to serve our most impoverished brothers and sisters around the world. CRS is in 117 countries doing exactly that. They provide food, education, and medicine to the world’s poorest countries. In doing so, some of the work also supports U.S. farmers. But beyond mere aid, CRS provides help to struggling populations with sustainable development, encouraging them to become more self-sufficient.
Forty-five percent of CRS funding comes from donations, principally RICE BOWL. Fifty-five percent of the aid has come from grants through USAID. As you probably know, that grant money is now in jeopardy, pending court and political decisions. As money is stopped or delayed millions of people around the world are affected, and many CRS employees have or may be laid off. CRS programs have been greatly affected and are hoping to be able to continue.
Your help is needed more than ever. Please help us to make these words come true: “I was hungry and you gave me food.” Rice Bowl is celebrating 50 years this year. It is a wonderful program and an unparalleled way to enrich your Lenten Practices. There are recipes, stories, and prayer suggestions to deepen your connection to Our Loving God and those in other countries. BUILD THE NEW CHURCH STAIRS
We have fully paid off our construction loan! We are debt free! This is a great accomplishment, and we thank everyone. We are Blessed, and I am Grateful!
We are in a position to finish the last step of the Building Our Faith campaign with the new stairs from the church to the Portico.
These New Stairs will provide
1. Easy access to events in The Portico and MPR after Masses,
2. a safe way for parents to walk toddlers to The Portico who need a break during Mass,
3. and these stairs will become the main entrance to the church from the parking lot, using the elevator or school staircase to come up, walk past STEM Lab and MPR, through The Portico and into the church.
We are counting on the income from those still paying their outstanding pledges to build these new stairs. We will give ourselves a loan from our reserves to start as soon as possible, hopefully in a few months. Since the original design of a simple staircase, we have expanded the project to include all that was listed just above. Because of this, and because of inflation, we are going to fall short of paying ourselves back. Would you be willing to help a bit more to finish this project?

The OLG school theater department is looking for volunteers who have sewing ability to help pin, hem, and take in costumes for our theater department.
Costume fittings will take place on Sunday, March 23 in the OLG Hall from 10 am to 3 pm with five students coming every 20 minutes. It would be wonderful to be to finish the adjustments that day. Note: We will not be building any costumes from scratch, just making adjustments to the current inventory

As safe adults, we want to be available for the children in our lives to share their worries and fears with us. However, it is natural to be uncomfortable if a child discloses abuse or mistreatment. Middle school students are invited to an all-day event like no other on Saturday, September 23. At Holy Fire, middle school Catholics are invited and challenged to embrace their baptismal call and the powerful, relevant gospel of Jesus. Through talks by dynamic speakers, witness by peers, inspirational praise and worship, and rich experiences of the Sacraments, Holy Fire helps young people feel seen, welcomed, and invited into a life changing commitment to Christ. NATIONAL VOCATION AWARENESS WEEK
November 5-11, 2023 is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.
PATHWAY TO DISCIPLESHIP WRAP UP & WHAT’S NEXT EVENING
Peace to our Disciples of Jesus Christ who have participated in our first Pathway to Discipleship! You are invited to a one-evening reunion, to catch up with one another and learn more opportunities on how you can continue the journey.
The gathering will be on Wednesday November 29th from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. Like other sessions, we will provide a meal, childcare, Praise & Worship, a presentation, prayer time, and small group discussion. The topics presented will be how to continue your spiritual growth as individuals or in groups, and/or join in our parish ministry of evangelization or serve the parish in other ways. Please join us! Jesus is calling us Deeper. He promises to restore and renew his people. This Eucharist Revival Kick-Off will speak about the National Movement, Revival at OLG, and experience our Lord through Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. All are invited!
Reception begins on the OLG Portico at 6:30 PM followed by a dynamic evening in the church.

Hop on board the Eucharistic Caravan to walk with Our Lord through the streets of San Francisco as pilgrims move towards Indianapolis for the National Eucharistic Congress this July. A pilgrimage is the simultaneous
movement of feet and soul to encounter God. This is a journey WITH Jesus. With the gift of the Eucharist, Jesus gave us a new way to walk alongside him. Do you want to accompany Jesus this May?

SECOND COLLECTION
This weekend in lieu of the Maintenance Fund, OLG will hold a special collection for the Holy Land Emergency Relief Fund, to help those who are going through extreme difficulties in Gaza and Israel. In solidarity with our suffering brothers and sisters, Archbishop Gomez has asked all parishes to consider this special collection.
