OCIA FIRST SCRUTINY - MARCH 23
This weekend is the first scrutiny for our Elect and Candidates in OCIA (formally RCIA). Scrutinies are three special rites celebrated during Lent, specifically on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Sundays, to prepare the "elect", those preparing to receive the sacraments of initiation.

En este tercer domingo la invitación está directa hacia la conversión, cambiar de vida, renovación de la mente, del alma, de nuestras prácticas que nos distancian de Dios. Moisés estaba viendo esa luz tan persistente y la invitación que recibe es: cámbiate, conviértete, quítate las sandalias porque esa es tierra santa, o sagrada. Y es que todos somos herederos de la tierra santa o sagrada, es por eso que debemos estar pendientes de la luz de Dios o del fuego de Dios en nuestras vidas.
Moises se convierte en testigo de la luz, de la resurrección aun cuando estemos en el Antiguo Testamento, y el encargo de las gentes y familias y todo lo demás sigue siendo un pedido a nosotros , acompaña a otros hacia el camino de Dios, haz que puedan ver la luz, y ser luz, haz que se puedan quitar las sandalias cuando estén ahí ya ante lo sagrado que es Dios.
San Pablo invita a la conversión , claro en otro ángulo pero conversión siempre, ya que es un reto siempre de cada día. Recuerda como el bautismo libera, limpia, incluye y salva. En el evangelio nos sigue diciendo no se descuiden, si su árbol no está dando frutos recuerde que está aún a tiempo, dedícale tiempo, cuídalo, abonelo, riégalo, háblele para que el próximo año tenga frutos y que esos frutos sean de vida eterna. Dios espera y nuestros semejantes esperan por esos frutos. Deja que Dios te guíe en esta cuaresma y que te sane, ilumine , salve con el fuego nuevo del Espíritu Santo. Bendiciones y no nos olvidemos de nuestras metas cuaresmales. Paz y Bien.

Tuesday's Adoration starts with a song in Spanish. At 4:50 PM the Divine Mercy Chaplet is offered in Spanish. Then at 5:50 PM the Divine Mercy Chaplet in English. At 6:50 PM the Benediction. The time in between is spent in quiet prayer before Jesus, who is present in the Eucharist.

PILGRIMAGE of HOPE
Second, on Saturday, April 5, 2025, the Church will take to the streets of Los Angeles on a seven-mile Pilgrimage of Hope. The walk to the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels will begin at 8:00 AM at All Souls Church in Alhambra, with stops at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Rose Hill, and Our Lady Help of Christians. Upon arrival at the cathedral, Archbishop Gomez will celebrate Mass; bus transportation from the cathedral to All Souls will be available at 1 PM. The relics of several saints, including the soon-to-be canonized Bl. Carlo Acutis, will accompany us on our journey. Click here for more information and to register.

Prayer Petitions for the Way of St. James
One of the most popular Catholic shrines in the world is the Shrine of Santiago de Compostella in Spain. It is visited by millions of pilgrims from around the world as the traditional tomb of St. James the Apostle, whose feast day is July 25th. Many pilgrims get there by way of the famous “Camino Walk”, a six-day and seventy-two-mile trek in the tradition of pilgrims who traveled to venerate one of the first disciples of Jesus. There is also a tradition to carry the scallop shell, the symbol of the Way of St. James.
This coming May 1-6, I will be in Spain with friends from OLG to make the Camino Walk in observance of the Year of Hope and my 35th anniversary of my ordination to the priesthood. I will also be making the walk on my 11 month anniversary of my surgery for kidney cancer, which thankfully remains in remission. I invite you to join me in prayer by sending your prayer petitions which I will carry with me on my walk and which will be deposited in the petition receptacle at the shine. If you wish to send a prayer petition for me to carry in my Camino Walk, please complete this online form or send by snail mail to the OLG parish office at 244 Prospect Avenue, Hermosa Beach, CA. Please send them by April 15th.

Uno de los santuarios católicos más populares del mundo es el Santuario de Santiago de Compostela en España. Es visitada por millones de peregrinos de todo el mundo como la tradicional tumba del apóstol Santiago, cuya fiesta es el 25 de julio. Muchos peregrinos llegan allí a través del famoso "Camino de Santiago", una caminata de 6 días y 72 millas en la tradición de los peregrinos que viajaban para venerar a uno de los primeros discípulos de Jesús. También existe la tradición de portar la concha de vieira, símbolo del Camino de Santiago. Del 1 al 6 de mayo, estaré en España con amigos de OLG para hacer el Camino de Santiago en conmemoración del Año de la Esperanza (“Year of Hope”) y mi 35 aniversario de mi ordenación sacerdotal. También haré la caminata en mi aniversario de 11 meses de mi cirugía por cáncer de riñón, que afortunadamente sigue en remisión. Les invito a unirse a mí en la oración enviando sus peticiones de oración que llevaré conmigo en mi camino y que serán depositadas en el receptáculo de peticiones del santuario. BUILD THE NEW CHURCH STAIRS
We have fully paid off our construction loan! We are debt free! This is a great accomplishment, and we thank everyone. We are Blessed, and I am Grateful!
We are in a position to finish the last step of the Building Our Faith campaign with the new stairs from the church to the Portico.
These New Stairs will provide
1. Easy access to events in The Portico and MPR after Masses,
2. a safe way for parents to walk toddlers to The Portico who need a break during Mass,
3. and these stairs will become the main entrance to the church from the parking lot, using the elevator or school staircase to come up, walk past STEM Lab and MPR, through The Portico and into the church.
We are counting on the income from those still paying their outstanding pledges to build these new stairs. We will give ourselves a loan from our reserves to start as soon as possible, hopefully in a few months. Since the original design of a simple staircase, we have expanded the project to include all that was listed just above. Because of this, and because of inflation, we are going to fall short of paying ourselves back. Would you be willing to help a bit more to finish this project?

NATIONAL VOCATION AWARENESS WEEK
November 5-11, 2023 is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.
PATHWAY TO DISCIPLESHIP WRAP UP & WHAT’S NEXT EVENING
Peace to our Disciples of Jesus Christ who have participated in our first Pathway to Discipleship! You are invited to a one-evening reunion, to catch up with one another and learn more opportunities on how you can continue the journey.
The gathering will be on Wednesday November 29th from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. Like other sessions, we will provide a meal, childcare, Praise & Worship, a presentation, prayer time, and small group discussion. The topics presented will be how to continue your spiritual growth as individuals or in groups, and/or join in our parish ministry of evangelization or serve the parish in other ways. Please join us! Jesus is calling us Deeper. He promises to restore and renew his people. This Eucharist Revival Kick-Off will speak about the National Movement, Revival at OLG, and experience our Lord through Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. All are invited!
Reception begins on the OLG Portico at 6:30 PM followed by a dynamic evening in the church.

EUCHARISTIC CARAVAN, MAY 16, 17, 18
Hop on board the Eucharistic Caravan to walk with Our Lord through the streets of San Francisco as pilgrims move towards Indianapolis for the National Eucharistic Congress this July. A pilgrimage is the simultaneous
movement of feet and soul to encounter God. This is a journey WITH Jesus. With the gift of the Eucharist, Jesus gave us a new way to walk alongside him. Do you want to accompany Jesus this May?

SECOND COLLECTION
This weekend in lieu of the Maintenance Fund, OLG will hold a special collection for the Holy Land Emergency Relief Fund, to help those who are going through extreme difficulties in Gaza and Israel. In solidarity with our suffering brothers and sisters, Archbishop Gomez has asked all parishes to consider this special collection.
