Second Scrutiny For Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA)
This weekend, during the Noon Mass, we will celebrate the second scrutiny for our Elect and Candidates in OCIA (formerly known as RCIA). Scrutinies are three special rites celebrated during Lent, specifically on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Sundays, to prepare the "elect", those preparing to receive the sacraments of initiation.

Un mensaje del p. Carlos
Este es el domingo de la alegría o del regocijo en cuaresma, esto quiere decir , que la Iglesia nos está invitando a no desperdiciar la oportunidad de unirnos al propósito de la cuaresma, que es revisar y renovar la vida bautismal. Esto quiere decir acudir alegremente a la conversión , a la reconciliación y que Dios ilumine plenamente mi vida con su Resurrección. Debemos seguir el camino de conquista de la Pascua, o sea defender el paso de Dios por nuestras vidas, significa que optamos por la salvación ofrecida y dada por Dios.
Esta vez queremos agregar al arrepentimiento, la búsqueda del perdón, o la reconciliación con quienes hemos rotos los lazos de relación , espiritual o humano, volver a la casa del Padre significa que después de salirnos y alejarnos de ella, hemos entrado en nosotros y nos hemos dado cuenta que , fuera de la casa del Padre no hay salvación. Por eso tenemos la parábola del padre misericordioso, que aunque su hijo decidió salirse, ir a buscar su camino solo, su padre que tanto lo ama lo recibe, pero lo recibe porque su hijo hizo su examen de conciencia y se dio cuenta que no estaba bien, que iba por caminos equivocados y que esa vida no era nada parecida a lo que el padre le había ofrecido toda la vida.
Digamos, volveré a la casa de mi padre, y le pediré perdón, esto significa que hemos entrado en nosotros mismos, examinamos nuestra vida, detectamos lo mal que he hecho contra mi mismo y decido rectificar, volver, pero con un corazón arrepentido y con propósitos de vida eterna. Esrta es nuestra oportunidad, no la dejemos ir, hagamos una decisión en favor nuestro, porque El Padre me espera siempre. Bendiciones de Paz y Bien.

EASTER EGGS DONATION WANTED
Our hope is to collect over a thousand plastic easter eggs for the Children’s Easter Egg Hunt. Please, NO un-wrapped candy in the eggs. Drop off eggs to the Church Office by Wednesday, April 16.
All Kids are invited to the 10 AM Easter Mass on April 20 followed by an Easter Egg hunt at Friendship Park.

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
TUESDAYS
In the Church from 4-7 PM
Tuesday's Adoration starts with a song in Spanish. At 4:50 PM the Divine Mercy Chaplet is offered in Spanish. Then at 5:50 PM the Divine Mercy Chaplet in English. At 6:50 PM the Benediction. The time in between is spent in quiet prayer before Jesus, who is present in the Eucharist.

REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT UPDATE
Our team of parishioners & community members have been working for almost a year to train, prepare, and gather resources to welcome a refugee family to the LA area. Last week, we announced at the end of the Masses that a family from Afghanistan would be arriving on Tuesday, March 25. Due to circumstances outside of our control, they were unable to make it to the US this week, but praise God that their family is in a safe situation. After 2 false starts, we are still on the list to welcome a new family hopefully in the coming weeks. We will send out more information as we know more as the immigration system in our country is in a time of great uncertainty. Please pray for all refugees, for those making decisions on immigration policies, and for those called to welcome the poor, hungry, and displaced in the world to treat all human beings as we would treat Jesus. Prayer Petitions for the Way of St. James
One of the most popular Catholic shrines in the world is the Shrine of Santiago de Compostella in Spain. It is visited by millions of pilgrims from around the world as the traditional tomb of St. James the Apostle, whose feast day is July 25th. Many pilgrims get there by way of the famous “Camino Walk”, a six-day and seventy-two-mile trek in the tradition of pilgrims who traveled to venerate one of the first disciples of Jesus. There is also a tradition to carry the scallop shell, the symbol of the Way of St. James.
This coming May 1-6, I will be in Spain with friends from OLG to make the Camino Walk in observance of the Year of Hope and my 35th anniversary of my ordination to the priesthood. I will also be making the walk on my 11 month anniversary of my surgery for kidney cancer, which thankfully remains in remission. I invite you to join me in prayer by sending your prayer petitions which I will carry with me on my walk and which will be deposited in the petition receptacle at the shine. If you wish to send a prayer petition for me to carry in my Camino Walk, please complete this online form or send by snail mail to the OLG parish office at 244 Prospect Avenue, Hermosa Beach, CA. Please send them by April 15th.

Uno de los santuarios católicos más populares del mundo es el Santuario de Santiago de Compostela en España. Es visitada por millones de peregrinos de todo el mundo como la tradicional tumba del apóstol Santiago, cuya fiesta es el 25 de julio. Muchos peregrinos llegan allí a través del famoso "Camino de Santiago", una caminata de 6 días y 72 millas en la tradición de los peregrinos que viajaban para venerar a uno de los primeros discípulos de Jesús. También existe la tradición de portar la concha de vieira, símbolo del Camino de Santiago. Del 1 al 6 de mayo, estaré en España con amigos de OLG para hacer el Camino de Santiago en conmemoración del Año de la Esperanza (“Year of Hope”) y mi 35 aniversario de mi ordenación sacerdotal. También haré la caminata en mi aniversario de 11 meses de mi cirugía por cáncer de riñón, que afortunadamente sigue en remisión. Les invito a unirse a mí en la oración enviando sus peticiones de oración que llevaré conmigo en mi camino y que serán depositadas en el receptáculo de peticiones del santuario. November 5-11, 2023 is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.
PATHWAY TO DISCIPLESHIP WRAP UP & WHAT’S NEXT EVENING
Peace to our Disciples of Jesus Christ who have participated in our first Pathway to Discipleship! You are invited to a one-evening reunion, to catch up with one another and learn more opportunities on how you can continue the journey.

Hop on board the Eucharistic Caravan to walk with Our Lord through the streets of San Francisco as pilgrims move towards Indianapolis for the National Eucharistic Congress this July. A pilgrimage is the simultaneous
movement of feet and soul to encounter God. This is a journey WITH Jesus. With the gift of the Eucharist, Jesus gave us a new way to walk alongside him. Do you want to accompany Jesus this May?

SECOND COLLECTION
This weekend in lieu of the Maintenance Fund, OLG will hold a special collection for the Holy Land Emergency Relief Fund, to help those who are going through extreme difficulties in Gaza and Israel. In solidarity with our suffering brothers and sisters, Archbishop Gomez has asked all parishes to consider this special collection.
