Third Scrutiny For Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA)
This weekend, during the Saturday 5 PM Mass, we will celebrate the third scrutiny for our Elect and Candidates in OCIA (formerly known as RCIA). Scrutinies are three special rites celebrated during Lent, specifically on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Sundays, to prepare the "elect", those preparing to receive the sacraments of initiation.

Seguimos recordando que Dios nos llama al seguimiento, nos invita a convertirnos, a arrepentirnos, este domingo tenemos un ejemplo super bueno, la liturgia nos ofrece una escena impresionante sobre el perdón. Es una enseñanza como la de la semana pasada, pero hoy es Jesús quien está ahí en el centro, un Jesús muy humano, lleno de caridad y misericordia, sin juzgar enfrenta la situación con la divina justicia de Dios.
En el centro de la escena “una mujer sorprendida en adulterio”, hecho que nadie niega: en “flagrante adulterio”. No hay discusión sobre la culpabilidad de la mujer ni sobre la gravedad de la culpa: “la ley de Moisés nos manda apedrear a las adúlteras”: no es ése el tema. Lo que los escribas y los fariseos pretenden, en el templo y delante de una muchedumbre, por tanto, en un escenario completamente favorable para ellos y hostil para Jesús es “comprometerlo y poder acusarlo”: la vida de la mujer no les importa nada, la dan por condenada y ejecutada. Piensan que van a coger a Jesús en un error, porque saben de su compasión y de que es alguien que “come con publicanos y pecadores” (Marcos 2, 16) y que se atreve a decir “los publicanos y las prostitutas van por delante de vosotros en el reino de Dios” (Mateo, 21, 31).
Esa voluntad de salvación es la que marca toda la acción de Jesús en la escena: desde su respuesta a los acusadores: “el que esté sin pecado, que le tire la primera piedra”, hasta sus palabras finales a la mujer: “Tampoco yo te condeno. Anda, y en adelante no peques más”. Primero el perdón; luego la invitación a cambiar de vida. El perdón es incondicional; el cambio de vida es resultado de la experiencia de misericordia. Paz y Bien.

Tuesday's Adoration starts with a song in Spanish. At 4:50 PM the Divine Mercy Chaplet is offered in Spanish. Then at 5:50 PM the Divine Mercy Chaplet in English. At 6:50 PM the Benediction. The time in between is spent in quiet prayer before Jesus, who is present in the Eucharist.

November 5-11, 2023 is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.

Hop on board the Eucharistic Caravan to walk with Our Lord through the streets of San Francisco as pilgrims move towards Indianapolis for the National Eucharistic Congress this July. A pilgrimage is the simultaneous
movement of feet and soul to encounter God. This is a journey WITH Jesus. With the gift of the Eucharist, Jesus gave us a new way to walk alongside him. Do you want to accompany Jesus this May?
