Mass Readings for Palm Sunday, April 13
PRAY WITH SCRIPTURE
The readings for Palm Sunday provide an excellent opportunity to read & pray with scriptures while imagining yourself as one of the people in the scene. This prayerful way of reading scripture allows us to spend quiet time with Jesus letting him reveal to you what he wants to through these readings.
HOSANNA IN THE HIGHEST
This weekend at Mass we receive palm fronds which we use to participate in the reenactment of Christ's triumphant arrival in Jerusalem, days before he was crucified. In the Gospels, Jesus entered Jerusalem riding a young donkey, and to the lavish praise of the townspeople who threw clothes, or possibly palms or small branches, in front of him as a sign of homage. This was a customary practice for people of great respect. (a)
Palm branches are a widely recognized symbol of peace and victory. The use of a donkey instead of a horse is highly symbolic, it represents the humble arrival of someone in peace, as opposed to arriving in war.(a)
Palm Sunday is the final Sunday of Lent, and the beginning of Holy Week.

Un Mensaje Del Padre Carlos
Paz y Bien! Estamos a la puerta de una semana muy importante, la llamamos semana santa, y claro que es santa, ahí recordamos los misterios de la salvación al mundo, eso nos incluye a nosotros.
Este domingo es el domingo de Ramos, y contemplamos una liturgia muy rica en signos y en el mensaje de la palabra que escucharemos o hemos escuchado. A Jeuscristo lo proclaman REY, y esto es algo que es bueno pero a la vez se convierte en traición para algunos. Lo proclaman Rey y luego lo acusan y lo ponen en la cruz , y se le da muerte como a un bandido.
Esta liturgia cuenta con dos evangelios, uno afuera o en la entrada del templo donde se recuerda esa declaración de Jesus como Rey , se pueden enfatizar tres palabras, perdon, cuando Jesus dice, ¨Padre, Perdónalos porque no saben lo que hacen¨, luego dice al bandido, ¨hoy , dice, Hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso. conmigo en el Paraíso¨¨, y la palabra espíritu cuando dice, ¨ Padre en tus manos encomiendo mi Espiritu¨
Jesús de Nazaret, por amor, atraviesa una de las puertas de acceso a la Ciudad Santa para que se pueda ver una imagen de Dios que, con la grandeza y esplendor de su humildad, Jesus quiere acercarse a la persona, o sea al ser humano. Este domingo recuerda que la humildad es algo muy visible y muy importante para nosotros, porque así nos muestra la fuerza que posee el amor de aquél que murió en la cruz para salvación, esperanza y alegría de todos los que lo sigamos y creamos y lo vivamos a El, Bendiciones, bendecida Semana Santa.

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
TUESDAYS
In the Church from 4-7 PM
Tuesday's Adoration starts with a song in Spanish. At 4:50 PM the Divine Mercy Chaplet is offered in Spanish. Then at 5:50 PM the Divine Mercy Chaplet in English. At 6:50 PM the Benediction. The time in between is spent in quiet prayer before Jesus, who is present in the Eucharist.
La adoración al Santísimo Sacramento del Altar se lleva a cabo cada martes de 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, y comienza con una canción en español. Divine Mercy Sunday is celebrated on the Second Sunday of Easter.
The Divine Mercy message is that God loves us - all of us. Let us recognize His Mercy is greater than our sins, so that we call upon Him with trust, receive his mercy and let it flow through us to others.

NATIONAL VOCATION AWARENESS WEEK
November 5-11, 2023 is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.
PATHWAY TO DISCIPLESHIP WRAP UP & WHAT’S NEXT EVENING
Peace to our Disciples of Jesus Christ who have participated in our first Pathway to Discipleship! You are invited to a one-evening reunion, to catch up with one another and learn more opportunities on how you can continue the journey.
The gathering will be on Wednesday November 29th from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. Like other sessions, we will provide a meal, childcare, Praise & Worship, a presentation, prayer time, and small group discussion. The topics presented will be how to continue your spiritual growth as individuals or in groups, and/or join in our parish ministry of evangelization or serve the parish in other ways. Please join us! Hop on board the Eucharistic Caravan to walk with Our Lord through the streets of San Francisco as pilgrims move towards Indianapolis for the National Eucharistic Congress this July. A pilgrimage is the simultaneous
movement of feet and soul to encounter God. This is a journey WITH Jesus. With the gift of the Eucharist, Jesus gave us a new way to walk alongside him. Do you want to accompany Jesus this May?

This weekend in lieu of the Maintenance Fund, OLG will hold a special collection for the Holy Land Emergency Relief Fund, to help those who are going through extreme difficulties in Gaza and Israel.
