PRAY WITH SCRIPTURE
Before reading, pray for the Holy Spirit to open your mind and heart, and ask Jesus what he wants to reveal to you through these readings. Then, as you read the scriptures, take note of a word or phrase that stands out to you. God has prepared this for you. Let the word or phrase that stood out become your invitation to dialogue with God. Allow the word or phrase to wash over you and permeate your thoughts. Spend some quiet time in prayer.
Un Mensaje Del Padre Carlos
Paz y bien, este domingo escuchamos en la lecturas que para los seguidores de Jesus y para Jesus es una verdadera alegría, predicar sobre la buena nueva y la nueva vida que la gente puede tener. San Pablo, sigue con insistencia el mandato de esparcir el evangelio a todas partes y por supuesto que San Juan en el apocalipsis sigue animando a la comunidad a que vivan con la esperanza puesta en el resucitado que está entre ellos.
Por su puesto San Juan quiere que sepamos quien es Jesús, conocerlo y más que eso, seguirlo. Y por eso nos lo propone como el buen Pastor, El , quien da la vida por sus ovejas, y claro, también nos dice las ovejas, OYEN SU VOZ, LO SIGUEN. En la pascua no dejemos de meditar en esas promesas de vida eterna que siguen siendo vivas y actuales para nosotros, si , creemos en El.
Partiendo de esta comparación, en la que nosotros seríamos las ovejas y Jesús el Buen Pastor, Jesús empieza diciendo que “mis ovejas escuchan mi voz”. Y esto supone un elemento previo, que es que nosotros, sus ovejas, reconozcamos también que nuestro Dios es comunicativo, que nos habla, que no es ajeno a lo que nos ocurre en la vida. Dios quiere comunicarse con nosotros y nosotros “escuchamos su voz”. Y Dios nos habla a través de su Palabra, en los acontecimientos de la vida, en las personas que están cerca de nosotros.

World Day of Prayer for Vocations
Sunday May 11, the Church throughout the world prays for vocations. Will you make a special effort to ask the Lord for vocations to the priesthood and religious life? Pray for the priests who have ministered to you throughout your life, both living and dead. Encourage your children, grandchildren, or other young people to consider a vocation as a priest or religious brother or sister. Pray a rosary for more young men and women in our diocese to respond to God’s call.

As Catholics, we firmly believe that God has a plan for our lives! He calls some to marriage, some to the priesthood, and others to religious life or to live as generous single people. Fully living our own vocations—and teaching young people how to discern God’s call—is a serious duty, but also a joyful one. During this week, please encourage the young people in your life—children, grandchildren, students, and friends—to be open if God calls them to priesthood or religious life.

Fifth Street Church Exit Temporarily Closed for Regular Use
For the next several weeks (perhaps even until June 15th-ish), our Fifth Street Church Exit will be closed for regular use as the landing is under reconstruction. Please do not exit that way. However, should there be an EMERGENCY ONLY, that exit can be used by breaking through the yellow construction tape, and turning left going down the stairs (carefully as they are under construction), then when you get to the bottom, turn right and use the gate to the Portico that will be open, and exit using the stairs on the left down to the parking lot. EASTER CELEBRATION
Easter is the celebration of the Lord’s resurrection from the dead, culminating in his Ascension to the Father and sending of the Holy Spirit upon the Church. There are 50 days of Easter from the first Sunday to Pentecost Sunday.

STAMP OUT HUNGER FOOD DRIVE - MAY 10
OLG receives tons (literally tons) of food from that event. We are also working with House of Yahweh/South Bay Outreach so that both of our organizations can get food. Once we fill up our pantry, Yahweh will pick up all the additional food they can, along with other participating organizations. Thank you for supporting STAMP OUT HUNGER!
On Saturday, May 10, all you need to do is leave non-perishable food in a bag by your mailboxes, and then the letter carriers pick up your food donation when they deliver the mail.
Sunday, 11 May, is the monthly OLG Food Drive. We moved the event up a week so as not to conflict with the OLG Festival the following weekend.

The refugee family of 4 from Afghanistan that our church is welcoming just passed their month mark in the US, and what an exciting month it's been. From passing the driving test to moving into their first apartment at the beginning of May. It's been a real blessing to get to know and walk alongside the family. There's still lots of work to be done and more ways to help (See links below).

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
TUESDAYS
In the Church from 4-7 PM
Tuesday's Adoration starts with a song in Spanish. At 4:50 PM the Divine Mercy Chaplet is offered in Spanish. Then at 5:50 PM the Divine Mercy Chaplet in English. At 6:50 PM the Benediction. The time in between is spent in quiet prayer before Jesus, who is present in the Eucharist.

SUPPORT RELIGIOUS WORKERS – URGE CONGRESS TO ACT
Religious workers—priests, sisters, brothers, and lay ministers—are at risk of being forced to leave the United States due to backlogs and limitations in the Religious Worker Visa Program. This ongoing issue has already impacted many ministries across the country, and without a legislative solution, more communities will face the loss of essential personnel.
The Religious Workforce Protection Act (S. 1298 / H.R. 2672) is a bipartisan bill that would provide critical relief. It would allow eligible R-1 visa holders to remain in the U.S. while their applications for permanent residency are pending, and apply this protection retroactively to those already forced to leave.
Please contact your members of Congress and ask them to support this vital legislation. Consider including a personal message about how religious workers have served your parish or community.

If a child tells you about sexual abuse, the first and most important step to take is to listen to him or her. Let the child fully express the situation and how he or she is feeling. Remind him or her of how brave it is to disclose this, and that you will help. Report any suspicion of abuse to authorities. NATIONAL VOCATION AWARENESS WEEK
November 5-11, 2023 is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.
PATHWAY TO DISCIPLESHIP WRAP UP & WHAT’S NEXT EVENING
Peace to our Disciples of Jesus Christ who have participated in our first Pathway to Discipleship! You are invited to a one-evening reunion, to catch up with one another and learn more opportunities on how you can continue the journey.
The gathering will be on Wednesday November 29th from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. Like other sessions, we will provide a meal, childcare, Praise & Worship, a presentation, prayer time, and small group discussion. Hop on board the Eucharistic Caravan to walk with Our Lord through the streets of San Francisco as pilgrims move towards Indianapolis for the National Eucharistic Congress this July. A pilgrimage is the simultaneous
movement of feet and soul to encounter God. This is a journey WITH Jesus. With the gift of the Eucharist, Jesus gave us a new way to walk alongside him. Do you want to accompany Jesus this May?
