PRAY WITH SCRIPTURE
Before reading, pray for the Holy Spirit to open your mind and heart, and ask Jesus what he wants to reveal to you through these readings. Then, as you read the scriptures, take note of a word or phrase that stands out to you. God has prepared this for you. Let the word or phrase that stood out become your invitation to dialogue with God. Allow the word or phrase to wash over you and permeate your thoughts. Spend some quiet time in prayer.

Bendiciones, para todos nosotros el evangelio de esta 5 semana nos propone volver a aquel momento luminoso de la última cena , Jesús se sienta y los instruye y a la vez llega el momento de la entrega, para algunos no entendido, otros asustados, y Judas casi que arrepentido, pero todo lo que Jesús anunció va llegando y la experiencia que viene será de gloria , resurrección y persecución en el nombre de Jesus, vivo y actuante.
Lo que, sí es cierto que después de eso vienen momentos muy duros, reflexivos para todos ellos, y no solo ellos, si no para tantos que lo seguían. Se da un proceso de encuentro entre ellos o más bien al interior de cada persona y esto ayudó para valorar la persona de Jesús.
Luego vemos que en Hechos nos siguen relatando todo lo que los discípulos animados por el Resucitado ahora están haciendo, predican, invitan, bautizan, reciben a nuevos adeptos y de culturas diferentes y de los judíos vienen hombres y mujeres que se agregan al grupo de Cristo Resucitado.
La experiencia es de ver todo lo nuevo que está sucediendo, los hombres y mujeres se convierten y comienzan a ser testigos de la Resurrección, testigos que animan y esparcen la semilla de la salvación a todos.
Nosotros hoy seguimos invitados para lo mismo, debemos ser sus testigos hasta los confines del mundo, el mandato es esparcir y amar como un mandamiento nuevo, imitando el amor de Dios en Jesús y su entrega. Amen.

EASTER CELEBRATION
Easter is the celebration of the Lord’s resurrection from the dead, culminating in his Ascension to the Father and sending of the Holy Spirit upon the Church. There are 50 days of Easter from the first Sunday to Pentecost Sunday.

REFUGEE FAMILY UPDATE
The refugee family of 4 from Afghanistan that our church is welcoming just passed their month mark in the US, and what an exciting month it's been. From passing the driving test to moving into their first apartment at the beginning of May. It's been a real blessing to get to know and walk alongside the family. There's still lots of work to be done and more ways to help (See links below).

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
TUESDAYS
In the Church from 4-7 PM
Tuesday's Adoration starts with a song in Spanish. At 4:50 PM the Divine Mercy Chaplet is offered in Spanish. Then at 5:50 PM the Divine Mercy Chaplet in English. At 6:50 PM the Benediction. The time in between is spent in quiet prayer before Jesus, who is present in the Eucharist.
La adoración al Santísimo Sacramento del Altar se lleva a cabo cada martes de 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, y comienza con una canción en español. A las 4:50 PM, se ofrece La Coronilla de la Divina Misericordia en español. A las 5:50 PM, se ofrece La Coronilla de la Divina Misericordia en inglés, y la Bendición es a las 6:50 PM. *Our Taizé style Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is a meditative style of Adoration and prayer that uses simple repetitive chants set to music and periods of silence in a dimly lit church environment with the Blessed Sacrament on exposition on the altar. The music and silence work together, inviting us to dwell more deeply in Christ’s presence.

Los Angeles Eucharistic Procession
Join us as we celebrate this year’s Solemnity of Corpus Christi on June 22nd, 2025, in Los Angeles, California. After a Mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, we will bring Jesus to the city through a Eucharistic Procession. The procession will make its way through the heart of Downtown LA, uniting thousands in prayer, faith, and devotion.

SUPPORT RELIGIOUS WORKERS – URGE CONGRESS TO ACT
Religious workers—priests, sisters, brothers, and lay ministers—are at risk of being forced to leave the United States due to backlogs and limitations in the Religious Worker Visa Program. This ongoing issue has already impacted many ministries across the country, and without a legislative solution, more communities will face the loss of essential personnel.
The Religious Workforce Protection Act (S. 1298 / H.R. 2672) is a bipartisan bill that would provide critical relief. It would allow eligible R-1 visa holders to remain in the U.S. while their applications for permanent residency are pending, and apply this protection retroactively to those already forced to leave.
Please contact your members of Congress and ask them to support this vital legislation. Consider including a personal message about how religious workers have served your parish or community.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?
Every Catholic is called to protect the most vulnerable, including children who are at risk for abuse and exploitation.
If you are working with or around minors in the Catholic Church in the parish, sports, clubs, or school settings, you are required by the Archdiocese to complete a Live Scan and be fingerprinted. If you are a parent volunteer and have been fingerprinted previously, you do not need to do it again. Contact the church office if you have questions.

May 17-18 || Age-appropriate curiosity in young children
Knowing the difference between age-appropriate and inappropriate behaviors in children can help safe adults determine whether something feels “off” about a child’s behavior and could indicate potential sexual abuse. For preschool children and young children (around ages 4-6), exploring their bodies is natural. They are not yet old enough to understand the idea of “private” naturally, and may also be curious about others’ bodies – parents, friends, etc. These behaviors are common and developmentally appropriate for their age and stage. NATIONAL VOCATION AWARENESS WEEK
November 5-11, 2023 is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.
PATHWAY TO DISCIPLESHIP WRAP UP & WHAT’S NEXT EVENING
Peace to our Disciples of Jesus Christ who have participated in our first Pathway to Discipleship! You are invited to a one-evening reunion, to catch up with one another and learn more opportunities on how you can continue the journey.
The gathering will be on Wednesday November 29th from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. Like other sessions, we will provide a meal, childcare, Praise & Worship, a presentation, prayer time, and small group discussion. The topics presented will be how to continue your spiritual growth as individuals or in groups, and/or join in our parish ministry of evangelization or serve the parish in other ways. Please join us! EUCHARISTIC CARAVAN, MAY 16, 17, 18
Hop on board the Eucharistic Caravan to walk with Our Lord through the streets of San Francisco as pilgrims move towards Indianapolis for the National Eucharistic Congress this July. A pilgrimage is the simultaneous
movement of feet and soul to encounter God. This is a journey WITH Jesus. With the gift of the Eucharist, Jesus gave us a new way to walk alongside him. Do you want to accompany Jesus this May?

This weekend in lieu of the Maintenance Fund, OLG will hold a special collection for the Holy Land Emergency Relief Fund, to help those who are going through extreme difficulties in Gaza and Israel.
