This Sunday commemorates the Ascension of the Lord, the event described in the Gospels and Acts of the Apostles, where Jesus, after his resurrection, ascended into heaven. Historically, the Ascension was celebrated on a Thursday, 40 days after Easter. However, many dioceses, including the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, move the celebration to Sunday

PRAY WITH SCRIPTURE
Before reading, pray for the Holy Spirit to open your mind and heart, and ask Jesus what he wants to reveal to you through these readings. Then, as you read the scriptures, take note of a word or phrase that stands out to you. God has prepared this for you. Let the word or phrase that stood out become your invitation to dialogue with God. Allow the word or phrase to wash over you and permeate your thoughts. Spend some quiet time in prayer.

San Pablo dice en su predicación a los nuevos cristianos y esto es hablando de la resurrección,¨ si Cristo no hubiera resucitado vana seria nuestra fe¨ . Está diciendo la fe tiene sentido porque él mismo ha subido al Cielo, Murió y Resucitó por todos nosotros y es una de las catequesis más fuertes después de la muerte y resurrección de Jesús, se fue para quedarse con nosotros, y es por eso por lo que la fe es tan importante, fe, en que es el Hijo de Dios quien murió y Resucitó. Un amor que no es de nuestro mundo, eso lo decía el Papa Benedicto, y agregaba, pero que se deja sentir como una fuerza incontenible que viene desde lo alto.
Jesús dijo en alguna ocasión que nadie ha subido al cielo, sino aquel que del cielo ha bajado, en clara referencia al misterio de su persona y a su íntima relación con el Padre. En el misterio de la encarnación, el cielo y la tierra se juntan, entremezclan y funden en un abrazo de amor solidario. La fe es el despertar del creyente a la experiencia de Dios en y desde Jesús. Jesús no es un hombre cualquiera, ni siquiera el mejor de los hombres posibles, es el Hijo de Dios y Dios mismo.
El testimonio más grande es que se levantó de entre los muertos y nos enseña el camino que es el cielo, hagan aquí lo que el Padre les pide y allá es la gloria de las obras. Bendiciones.

Daniel Osorio, a parishioner of OLG, will be ordained as a Deacon on Saturday, June 7 at 9 AM at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. We will celebrate at OLG on Sunday, June 8 after the 8 AM and 12 PM Mass.
THE FEAST is a monthly gathering on Sunday afternoons that includes lunch, praise, and worship combined with a talk and discussion. It is for all of God’s children! All are welcome! June 8 at 11:00 AM in the MPR. There is no cost to attend, and daycare is available upon request.
ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

In the Church from 4-7 PM
Tuesday's Adoration starts with a song in Spanish. At 4:50 PM the Divine Mercy Chaplet is offered in Spanish. Then at 5:50 PM the Divine Mercy Chaplet in English. At 6:50 PM the Benediction. The time in between is spent in quiet prayer before Jesus, who is present in the Eucharist.

Los Angeles Eucharistic Procession
Join us as we celebrate this year’s Solemnity of Corpus Christi on June 22nd, 2025, in Los Angeles, California. The procession will make its way through the heart of Downtown LA, uniting thousands in prayer, faith, and devotion.

REFUGEE FAMILY UPDATE
The refugee family of 4 from Afghanistan that our church is welcoming just passed their month mark in the US, and what an exciting month it's been. From passing the driving test to moving into their first apartment at the beginning of May. It's been a real blessing to get to know and walk alongside the family. There's still lots of work to be done and more ways to help (See links below).

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?
Every Catholic is called to protect the most vulnerable, including children who are at risk for abuse and exploitation.
If you are working with or around minors in the Catholic Church in the parish, sports, clubs, or school settings, you are required by the Archdiocese to complete a Live Scan and be fingerprinted. If you are a parent volunteer and have been fingerprinted previously, you do not need to do it again. Contact the church office if you have questions.

Some concerning behaviors that go beyond natural curiosity, could be signs of sexual abuse. These behaviors include asking a peer or adult to engage in a specific act, inserting objects into private areas, explicit imitation of intercourse, and behaviors that are persistent and resistant to distraction. Any of these signs could indicate that a child is being abused or exposed to sexually inappropriate behavior. NATIONAL VOCATION AWARENESS WEEK
November 5-11, 2023 is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.
PATHWAY TO DISCIPLESHIP WRAP UP & WHAT’S NEXT EVENING
Peace to our Disciples of Jesus Christ who have participated in our first Pathway to Discipleship! You are invited to a one-evening reunion, to catch up with one another and learn more opportunities on how you can continue the journey.
The gathering will be on Wednesday November 29th from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. Like other sessions, we will provide a meal, childcare, Praise & Worship, a presentation, prayer time, and small group discussion. The topics presented will be how to continue your spiritual growth as individuals or in groups, and/or join in our parish ministry of evangelization or serve the parish in other ways. Please join us! EUCHARISTIC CARAVAN, MAY 16, 17, 18
Hop on board the Eucharistic Caravan to walk with Our Lord through the streets of San Francisco as pilgrims move towards Indianapolis for the National Eucharistic Congress this July. A pilgrimage is the simultaneous
movement of feet and soul to encounter God. This is a journey WITH Jesus. With the gift of the Eucharist, Jesus gave us a new way to walk alongside him. Do you want to accompany Jesus this May?
