Pentecost is the celebration of the Holy Spirit coming upon the Apostles, Mary, and the first followers of Jesus. Pentecost is seen as the fulfillment of Jesus's promise to send the Holy Spirit to guide and empower his disciples.
Pentecost Sunday also marks the end of the Easter season and celebrates the birth of the Church.

PRAY WITH SCRIPTURE
Before reading, pray for the Holy Spirit to open your mind and heart, and ask Jesus what he wants to reveal to you through these readings. Then, as you read the scriptures, take note of a word or phrase that stands out to you. God has prepared this for you. Let the word or phrase that stood out become your invitation to dialogue with God. Allow the word or phrase to wash over you and permeate your thoughts. Spend some quiet time in prayer.

Con esta solemnidad de Pentecostés terminamos la cincuentena pascual y al mismo tiempo, nos recuerda que la Iglesia nace gracias al Espíritu, que con su fuerza creadora renueva, recrea y revitaliza.
Los Hechos de los Apóstoles nos dicen: «Al cumplirse el día de Pentecostés, estaban todos juntos en el mismo lugar». Ya existía en Israel, desde el Antiguo Testamento, una fiesta que convocaba a todos los judíos para estas fechas. En un primer momento, fue la fiesta de las siete semanas o de la cosecha, cuando se ofrecía a Dios la primicia del trigo. Con el tiempo, un nuevo significado enriqueció su contenido: era la fiesta de la entrega de la Ley en el monte Sinaí, y de la Alianza.
El Pentecostés cristiano, don pascual por excelencia, es la nueva ley que el Padre y el Hijo, escriben en los corazones humanos por la fuerza del amor, como sello de la Alianza nueva y eterna.
La dinámica divina invade a un grupo de personas con una experiencia única. El primer efecto sensible es el entusiasmo con que proclaman las maravillas de Dios en todos los idiomas.
El Espíritu les llena de sabiduría, de alegría contagiosa. Los discípulos, antes apocados, se convierten en testigos intrépidos, que pregonan en todos los idiomas las maravillas de Dios.
A partir del primer Pentecostés de la historia, los creyentes tenemos una feliz seguridad: contamos con el Testigo Fiel, que protagoniza la historia y cumple cuanto promete. Siempre.

Lord, You send out Your Spirit to touch the hearts of all people, so that they may believe in You and in Jesus whom You sent.Look kindly on all candidates for Confirmation as they listen to Your voice. Open their hearts to Your Spirit and bring to fulfillment the good work that You have begun in them. As we prepare these teens for Confirmation, make each of us an instrument of Your love. Teach us to appreciate what is holy in others, and to be patient with what we do not understand. Deepen our faith in the Gospel and help us to pass it on by our example. We pray that You will continue to guide us and sustain us. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
WHAT IS GUADALUPE YOUTH MINISTRY?
Guadalupe Youth Ministry (G.Y.M.) is a community for Youth in Middle School (grades 6 to 8) and High School Teens (grades 9 to 12) where together we grow in relationship with Jesus!
G.Y.M. Registration opens July 1st- August 31st, 2025; however, we are happy to connect in June too! If interested, please complete this Interest Form. ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
TUESDAYS
In the Church from 4-7 PM
Tuesday's Adoration starts with a song in Spanish. At 4:50 PM the Divine Mercy Chaplet is offered in Spanish. Then at 5:50 PM the Divine Mercy Chaplet in English. At 6:50 PM the Benediction. The time in between is spent in quiet prayer before Jesus, who is present in the Eucharist.

Join us as we celebrate this year’s Solemnity of Corpus Christi on June 22nd, 2025, in Los Angeles, California. Eucharistic Ministers Needed at LCM Hospital
Do you love being an Extraordinary Minister at church?
If so, please consider volunteering to give communion to the sick at Providence Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance. Opportunities range from one day a month to as often as you like, weekdays or weekends between 9am and 3pm. You must be an active Eucharistic Minister at your parish. Orientation and training are provided. It is such a gift to bring Jesus to the sick!! WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?
Every Catholic is called to protect the most vulnerable, including children who are at risk for abuse and exploitation.
If you are working with or around minors in the Catholic Church in the parish, sports, clubs, or school settings, you are required by the Archdiocese to complete a Live Scan and be fingerprinted. If you are a parent volunteer and have been fingerprinted previously, you do not need to do it again. Contact the church office if you have questions.

June 7-8 || Conversations can help safe adults be proactive
Safe adults should plan consistent and frequent timeframes to talk to children, ranging in age from preschool to teen, about body safety. It is most helpful for children to be aware of boundaries and rules surrounding how they should treat others, and how they should expect to be treated – this helps children identify potentially abusive behaviors. NATIONAL VOCATION AWARENESS WEEK
November 5-11, 2023 is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.
PATHWAY TO DISCIPLESHIP WRAP UP & WHAT’S NEXT EVENING
Peace to our Disciples of Jesus Christ who have participated in our first Pathway to Discipleship! You are invited to a one-evening reunion, to catch up with one another and learn more opportunities on how you can continue the journey.
The gathering will be on Wednesday November 29th from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. Like other sessions, we will provide a meal, childcare, Praise & Worship, a presentation, prayer time, and small group discussion. The topics presented will be how to continue your spiritual growth as individuals or in groups, and/or join in our parish ministry of evangelization or serve the parish in other ways. Please join us! EUCHARISTIC CARAVAN, MAY 16, 17, 18
Hop on board the Eucharistic Caravan to walk with Our Lord through the streets of San Francisco as pilgrims move towards Indianapolis for the National Eucharistic Congress this July. A pilgrimage is the simultaneous
movement of feet and soul to encounter God. This is a journey WITH Jesus. With the gift of the Eucharist, Jesus gave us a new way to walk alongside him. Do you want to accompany Jesus this May?

This weekend in lieu of the Maintenance Fund, OLG will hold a special collection for the Holy Land Emergency Relief Fund, to help those who are going through extreme difficulties in Gaza and Israel.
