LET'S PREPARE OUR HEARTS BEFORE MASS
This Sunday is the twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time and Catechetical Sunday. In the readings this Sunday, Jesus is calling us to be a voice for those who have no voice, to be hope for the hopeless, to feed those who hunger, and to ensure that our social policies include the needs of the Poor.
Spending time reading and praying with the Mass readings before Mass prepares your heart to receive what God wants to communicate to you.

Un Mensaje Del Padre Carlos
Este domingo vienen las lecturas a confrontar la vida de negocios, social, familiar con la vida del Espíritu, y es que no podemos estar divididos, el dinero es importante y necesario, pero no te puede llevar a la condenación, ni a los engaños, hoy por ejemplo en la a primera lectura, el profeta Amós nos presenta el caso de un hombre que solo piensa en obtener beneficios mediante la especulación financiera: «¿Cuándo pasará la fiesta de la luna nueva, para que podamos vender nuestro trigo? ¿Cuándo terminará el sábado, para que podamos vender nuestro grano? Vamos a reducir las medidas, aumentar los precios y falsificar las balanzas. Podremos comprar al débil por un poco de dinero, al desdichado por un par de sandalias. Venderemos incluso los desechos del trigo». Y por eso ante una gran cosecha el evangelio dice “insensato hoy mismo partirás de este mundo” Bueno así que equilibremos nuestra vida de salvación y espiritual con nuestra vida en el resto de nuestras áreas, todas son importantes, pero no podemos dejar a Dios por amar al Dios dinero, eso no lleva a la vida eterna, todo es posible al que cree, incluso la viuda pobre que puso como ofrenda lo que le faltaba a ella. Amen, bendiciones.
CATCHETICAL SUNDAY September 21
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops designates a day to celebrate the gifts that catechists bring to the faith formation of children and adults. Catechetical Sunday is also a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. It is also an opportunity for all parishioners to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith.
This weekend at OLG, we will celebrate the men and women who serve as catechists in our parish family and invite all catechists to receive a special blessing at all Mass times.
A PRAYER FOR CATECHISTS
Loving Father,
we pray today for our catechists.
We thank you for their gift of
ministry in your Church.
Grant them your wisdom that they may
grow in the understanding and teaching
of your Word. Grant them also your love
that they may be fruitful heralds of your
Word and lead others to love you.
Pour forth your Holy Spirit upon them to
grant them wisdom about what is
important; knowledge of the truths of
faith; understanding of their meaning.
right judgement about how to apply them
in life; courage to persevere even in the
face of adversity; reverence before all that
is sacred and holy; and that loving zeal
which leads others to a transforming
encounter with your Son.

The Friends of the Library will also be joining us for Donut Sunday this weekend for a special presentation where they’ll share a beautifully restored 100-year-old bible from a Hermosa Beach family with our community. Come join us this Sunday at the 10 AM Mass and stay afterwards for donuts, fellowship, and something truly special to see!

If you are working with or around minors in the Catholic Church in the parish, sports, clubs, or school settings, you are required by the Archdiocese to complete the Safeguard the Children/Virtus training and a Live Scan, fingerprinted. If you are a parent volunteer and have been fingerprinted previously, you do not need to do it again. Contact the church office if you have questions.

NATIONAL VOCATION AWARENESS WEEK
November 5-11, 2023 is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.
PATHWAY TO DISCIPLESHIP WRAP UP & WHAT’S NEXT EVENING
Peace to our Disciples of Jesus Christ who have participated in our first Pathway to Discipleship! You are invited to a one-evening reunion, to catch up with one another and learn more opportunities on how you can continue the journey.
The gathering will be on Wednesday November 29th from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. Like other sessions, we will provide a meal, childcare, Praise & Worship, a presentation, prayer time, and small group discussion. Hop on board the Eucharistic Caravan to walk with Our Lord through the streets of San Francisco as pilgrims move towards Indianapolis for the National Eucharistic Congress this July. A pilgrimage is the simultaneous
movement of feet and soul to encounter God. This is a journey WITH Jesus. With the gift of the Eucharist, Jesus gave us a new way to walk alongside him. Do you want to accompany Jesus this May?
