This Sunday is the 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
In today’s Gospel, Luke poses an important question about discipleship: Who is righteous, unrighteous, and self-righteous? In other words, who is saved? Above all else, we are called to a life of prayer! The message is that we need to pray and practice our faith with humility.
Spending time reading and praying with the Mass readings before Mass prepares your heart to receive what God wants to communicate to you.

Paz y Bien, domingo tras domingo, día tras día, Dios se dirige a nuestras vidas desde su palabra, la eucaristía y la comunidad de fe reunida para presenciarlo sacramentalmente en la eucaristía. Este día un tema bastante hablado por nosotros, la oración. Y es que hoy me permite a mí preguntarme, ¿cómo es mi oración? ¿Hablo solamente de mí? ¿Solo le pido y pido? ¿le agradezco? ¿Tengo en cuenta a los demás? ¿Qué hago? La palabra nos acompaña con un mensaje de sabiduría, Dios te escucha, no te deja solo, aunque pase por lugares oscuros ahí estaré yo, no te preocupes que dirás, yo podré palabras en tu boca, si el afligido invoca al señor él lo escucha, etc., así por el estilo es Dios que nos lleva en su palma y nos cuida siempre. Y no tiene favoritismos, solo hay que buscarlo, con una buena actitud, de humildad, verdad, sinceridad, con gestos de apertura desde nuestra realidad y exponerle nuestro caso y ahí estará. Dios siente favor especial por los más abandonados, desprotegidos, y no es la persona que no tiene dinero, sino el que sabe que es pobre en virtud, el pobre de espíritu que desea cambiar, el humilde y que busca a Dios, ese hombre o mujer lo encontrará como el padre amoroso y misericordioso. Amen.

Fr. Paul to go on medical leave
Greetings and Peace! I am scheduled to have heart valve replacement surgery on November 3. The doctors say that it is a low-risk operation given my age and health. I will be on medical leave starting from November 3 until I am able to return to ministry. The doctors expect that it will be 4 to 8 weeks. That may change depending on how the surgery goes. Friar Tammylee Ngo OFM Conv will come here to fill in for me while I am out. I would very much appreciate your prayers, and to the extent I am able, I will be praying for you!

Notice of Staff Opening for Facilities Manager
We are looking for someone who may have from 10-30 hours a week to work with Bob to see that the facility continues to be cared for. This would include coordinating with Bob to see that all aspects of the facility are Cared for. It would include some of the following; Responding to staff maintenance requests, walking the property to be sure all is well, and overseeing contractors. This role would require knowledge of facilities maintenance, construction and building systems (electrical, roof, HVAC, plumbing, etc.) It also requires some competency in the various technological systems we use at church (e.g. smart TV’s video projectors, amplifiers, security cameras, gate openers, automatic switch apps, Wi-Fi hubs, programing thermostats, etc.) Qualifications, hours, and time could all be flexible. Notice of Staff Opening for Elementary and Family Catechesis
We are looking for an additional staff member to join our current staff and be on our Evangelization and Catechesis Team to mainly work with families with children in elementary. The opening is for a part-time position but would be open to even a full-time position for this and additional Evangelization and catechesis responsibilities. The ministry position does require work in evenings and weekends, but hours are somewhat flexible. This position will work in coordination with other team members. Experience in the fields of religious education, family ministry, youth ministry, other related fields, and bilingual (Spanish and English) is desired. October 25-26 || Who is a mandated reporter?
A mandated reporter is someone who is required to report suspected or disclosed cases of abuse to child protective services or law enforcement including a wide range of persons from teachers, educators, coaches, to school and parish staff, and clergy. The mandated report may involve concerns about possible abuse or neglect in the child’s home or by a family member. At a school or parish, if the person making a report believes that child abuse or neglect is the case then the person should make the report to the local law enforcement agency, which has the resources and ability to intervene immediately if needed. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles urges all in our church to speak up to the appropriate authorities if any form of child abuse is suspected. November 5-11, 2023 is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.
PATHWAY TO DISCIPLESHIP WRAP UP & WHAT’S NEXT EVENING

Hop on board the Eucharistic Caravan to walk with Our Lord through the streets of San Francisco as pilgrims move towards Indianapolis for the National Eucharistic Congress this July. A pilgrimage is the simultaneous
