Hoy concluimos la semana de oración por la unidad y la paz de los cristianos, y el papa Francisco nombro a ese domingo como el domingo de la palabra de Dios, aunque esto está en toda eucaristía, el quiso enfatizar en la importancia de la palabra. también recordamos que Jesús sigue llamando a muchos a colaborar con él. La invitación de Jesús a esos primeros discípulos encierra cierto misterio: «venid en pos de mí y os haré pescadores de hombres». Dice el texto que aquellos hermanos pescadores respondieron de forma radical: dejaron todo y lo siguieron. Hoy sabemos que el camino no fue tan sencillo. Ir tras Jesús, seguirle, implica conocerle, escucharle, configurarse con él, tener sus mismos sentimientos, preferir a los mismos que él prefirió, tener la misma relación con el Padre que él tuvo, padecer como él padeció…Sólo entonces podremos ser pescadores de hombres, evangelizadores que anuncian el Reino de Dios con palabras y con hechos, capaces de portar luz y esperanza, y liberar de todo mal y dolencia en este momento de la historia.Este camino es para todos los bautizados, no lo dejemos de practicar y anunciar. This week, we join Catholic schools across the country to celebrate National Catholic Schools Week. This year’s theme, "United in Faith and Community," highlights the vital role Catholic schools play in forming students through academic excellence, faith, and service. We are grateful for our dedicated teachers, staff, and families who make our school a vibrant community of missionary disciples.
Our PTO, teachers, and Student Council have lots of fun activities planned to celebrate the lifelong benefits of a Catholic education throughout the week. We'll have special theme days, our Jog-A-Thon, and an Open House on Jan. 27 from 6:30-7:30 PM. All current and prospective families are invited to visit classrooms, meet teachers, and other school families.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Community is committed to protecting our youth and children from child sexual abuse. We comply with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ Office of Safeguard the Children and provide the training and education to our ministers to prevent child sexual abuse.
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?
Every Catholic is called to protect the most vulnerable, including children who are at risk for abuse and exploitation.
If you are working with or around minors in the Catholic Church in the parish, sports, clubs, or school settings, you are required by the Archdiocese to complete the Safeguard the Children/Virtus training and a Live Scan, fingerprinted. If you are a parent volunteer and have been fingerprinted previously, you do not need to do it again. Contact the church office if you have questions.

January 24-25 || What does grooming look like?
In practice, grooming relies on secrecy. Groomers use secrets to bind their child victims to them, starting with small secrets and working up to harmful ones, like abusive behaviors. Predators often use bribery (“I’ll let you stay up late and watch TV if you let me do this.”), threats (“I’ll hurt you if you tell.”), and withdrawal of affection (“I won’t like you if you tell anyone the truth.”) to keep children from disclosing abuse. Families should establish a “no secrets” rule, and never ask children to keep secrets from their parents or trusted adults. NATIONAL VOCATION AWARENESS WEEK
November 5-11, 2023 is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.
PATHWAY TO DISCIPLESHIP WRAP UP & WHAT’S NEXT EVENING
Peace to our Disciples of Jesus Christ who have participated in our first Pathway to Discipleship! You are invited to a one-evening reunion, to catch up with one another and learn more opportunities on how you can continue the journey.
The gathering will be on Wednesday November 29th from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. Like other sessions, we will provide a meal, childcare, Praise & Worship, a presentation, prayer time, and small group discussion. The topics presented will be how to continue your spiritual growth as individuals or in groups, and/or join in our parish ministry of evangelization or serve the parish in other ways. Please join us! Hop on board the Eucharistic Caravan to walk with Our Lord through the streets of San Francisco as pilgrims move towards Indianapolis for the National Eucharistic Congress this July. A pilgrimage is the simultaneous
movement of feet and soul to encounter God. This is a journey WITH Jesus. With the gift of the Eucharist, Jesus gave us a new way to walk alongside him. Do you want to accompany Jesus this May?

Last Saturday, Nov 8, we were blessed to have 22 adults celebrate The Rite of Acceptance. We joyfully welcome all these Adults and ask our parish community.
Please pray for these men and women as they continue their faith journey in the months to come, preparing for initiation into the Christian faith by Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
