In the Gospel reading, Jesus leads us up the mountain to deliver the Sermon on the Mount, beginning with the Beatitudes. These are not just beautiful poetic lines, but a radical new law for our lives. It is a call to find true happiness by being poor in spirit, merciful, and pure of heart. Let us pray for the grace to embrace these 'blesseds' so that we may more closely reflect the face of Christ to the world.

Hola , en la palabra nos encontraremos con una invitación directa a vivir el evangelio, y es con lo que conocemos como las bienaventuranzas, lo cual es difícil de entender intelectualmente pero más accesible cuando se le busca vivir y entender como un proyecto espiritual de salvación que se vive en la práctica de cada día .Jesús dice dichosos los pobres , los que sufren y lloran contrario a lo que el mundo proclama que hace referencia al poder del dinero y a la autoridad mal entendida . La primer lectura habla de un pueblo que que es pobre y humilde y les anuncia un futuro de salvación y de Dios . El problema de la diferenciación de clases en el tiempo antiguo y aún con Jesús es lo que preocupa a Dios , a los profetas , a Jesús . El anuncio de Jesús y los profetas es a los pobres los que se apoyan en Dios y confían en Él , los que no lo esperaban como un Rey materialmente hablando si no como un Rey de paz, justicia, de luz , amor. Igualdad.
Jesús invita al cambio de corazón , de actitud , al amor para todos sin diferencia de personas o condiciones de clase . Vivamos la pobreza de espíritu o sea dependamos de Dios y confiemos en El. Paz y Bien.

Archbishop Gomez Statement on Immigration
At an interfaith prayer vigil on Saturday, January 24, in downtown Los Angeles, Archbishop Gomez once again called for peace and restraint. He expressed his continued frustration with the lack of action by the nation’s leaders to fix the broken immigration system for more than 40 years and urged Congress to hold hearings on the only bi-partisan bill that has been introduced, calling the bill “a genuine, good-faith starting point” for dialogue about reform.

DAY OF PRAYER FOR PEACE
Archbishop Paul S. Coakley, President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, called for a Holy Hour for Peace as a moment of renewal for our hearts and for our nation. In his invitation, Archbishop Coakley reminded the faithful that “our faith matters, our prayers matter, and our acts of love and works of justice matter,” emphasizing prayer as a vital step toward healing.
In light of this invitation, Archbishop Jose Gomez has designated Feb. 4th, 2026, as a Day of Prayer for Peace here in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Here at OLG, we will have a Holy Hour for Peace at 7 PM in the church on Wednesday, Feb. 4th. Join us!
The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels is also hosting a Holy Hour for Peace following the 12:10 PM mass on Wednesday, Feb. 4. All are welcome to attend.
For those who are not able to attend Holy Hour or Mass on this day, we invite to pray the rosary, read scripture, and any other Catholic prayer asking for peace.
In a world wounded by division, violence, and uncertainty, we come before the Lord—Prince of Peace—to entrust Him our hearts, our communities, and our nation, longing for reconciliation. We ask Christ to grant peace to our nation, comfort to those who suffer, and wisdom to all who lead.

November 5-11, 2023 is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.

Last Saturday, Nov 8, we were blessed to have 22 adults celebrate The Rite of Acceptance. We joyfully welcome all these Adults and ask our parish community.
Please pray for these men and women as they continue their faith journey in the months to come, preparing for initiation into the Christian faith by Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
