On this First Sunday of Lent, we enter into the desert with Jesus. As we begin this forty-day journey of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, the liturgy invites us to reflect on our own struggles with temptation and our need for God’s grace. Like the Israelites in the wilderness and Jesus in the desert, we are called to renewal and a deeper commitment to the Gospel. Let us prepare our hearts to encounter the mercy of God as we begin this holy season

Esta es la primera semana de cuaresma, hemos entrado en un nuevo tiempo litúrgico que nos habla directamente y nos invita a la meditación, reflexión, oración, todo en busca de nuestra verdadera identidad con Dios, con los demás y conmigo mismo.
La idea del desierto es muy apropiada, pero el de cada uno de nosotros ahí tenemos que irnos, para ver las tentaciones y las máscaras que tengo, las luchas y engaños que se me presentan conmigo mismo. Veamos bien a que y como debo responder.
El Papa Francisco ha insistió muchas veces en un consejo práctico y espiritual: "Con el diablo no se dialoga" (Francisco, 2020). Eva dialogó y perdió. Jesús no discute; Jesús cita la Escritura. Para vencer en esta Cuaresma, no podemos confiar en nuestra fuerza de voluntad ni en nuestros razonamientos. Necesitamos la "espada del Espíritu" que es la Palabra de Dios, así que aquí tenemos nuestra defensa para esta cuaresma y que nos preparemos como Dios quiere que celebremos nuestra pascua. GUIDELINES FOR LENT
Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59 are to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. In addition, all Catholics 14 years old and older abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and all the Fridays of Lent. For more information visit usccb.org
RECONCILIATION
During Lent, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is available in the church on Saturdays 9 AM-10 AM or by appointment. Local Penance Services will begin the week of March 23.

Domestic violence has many forms, including emotional, financial, physical, and sexual abuse. Research on children who live in homes with domestic violence shows that there can be long-standing consequences to a child’s health. Twenty-six states have passed laws protecting children who witness domestic violence. Children who grow up seeing violence between parents often struggle in their own relationships later in life. The single greatest predictor of whether children will grow up to be perpetrators of domestic violence is whether they witness it themselves as children. November 5-11, 2023 is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.
PATHWAY TO DISCIPLESHIP WRAP UP & WHAT’S NEXT EVENING

Hop on board the Eucharistic Caravan to walk with Our Lord through the streets of San Francisco as pilgrims move towards Indianapolis for the National Eucharistic Congress this July. A pilgrimage is the simultaneous
movement of feet and soul to encounter God. This is a journey WITH Jesus. With the gift of the Eucharist, Jesus gave us a new way to walk alongside him. Do you want to accompany Jesus this May?

Last Saturday, Nov 8, we were blessed to have 22 adults celebrate The Rite of Acceptance. We joyfully welcome all these Adults and ask our parish community.
