Today, the Church invites us to climb the 'holy mountain' with Peter, James, and John to witness the Transfiguration of our Lord. As we behold the radiant glory of Christ, we are reminded that our Lenten journey of penance and sacrifice is not an end in itself, but a path toward the joy of Easter. Like Abraham, who was called to leave everything behind to follow God’s promise, we too are called to trust in the Father’s voice and 'listen to Him.'

Este Domingo reflexiona sobre la transfiguración, esto significa un cambio, tiene que ver con dar la vuelta y presentar lo que tienes de bueno y justo y dejar atrás con la ayuda de la oración todo aquello que oscurece y que no te deja brillar que no te deja estar transparente frente a Dios y a los demás.
La primera lectura nos cuestiona sobre la calidad de fruto que nuestro árbol produce, y como ya sabemos podemos engañar a los demás, pero no a Dios ni a nosotros mismos. De Dios es el poder penetrar en nuestro corazón y de ahí se mide nuestra verdad por las obras y no solo por las palabras. Dios nos da la victoria por nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Como fruto de la Resurrección de Cristo, el hombre, transformado en Él y renacido de su gracia alcanza la victoria sobre el pecado y la muerte, sobre el diablo y el mundo y vence el combate de la vida en el tiempo y para la eternidad. La tarea es transfigurarnos o transformarnos en hombres y mujeres con un corazon de carne, abierto a Dios y a nosotros para poder atender aquello que cambiaremos y que sera nuestro fruto bueno y abundante. GUIDELINES FOR LENT

RECONCILIATION
During Lent, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is available in the church on Saturdays 9 AM-10 AM or by appointment. Local Penance Services will begin the week of March 23.

The Healing Mass is for ANYONE to receive the anointing oil for the sick. This oil is for physical, spiritual, or mental ailments. All are welcome! The elderly are highly encouraged to attend.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Community is committed to protecting our youth and children from child sexual abuse. We comply with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ Office of Safeguard the Children and provide the training and education to our ministers to prevent child sexual abuse.
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?
Every Catholic is called to protect the most vulnerable, including children who are at risk for abuse and exploitation.
If you are working with or around minors in the Catholic Church in the parish, sports, clubs, or school settings, you are required by the Archdiocese to complete the Safeguard the Children/Virtus training and a Live Scan, fingerprinted. If you are a parent volunteer and have been fingerprinted previously, you do not need to do it again. Contact the church office if you have questions.

Non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII) abuse can affect anyone, regardless of age or gender. In many cases, it can seem like the victim is part of the distribution of his or her own image. Even though a child may provide an intimate picture, children are not capable of understanding the implications or coping with perceived pressure to do so. No matter how an offender obtains intimate material, the victim’s fear of images being shared can leave him or her feeling powerless and ashamed. NATIONAL VOCATION AWARENESS WEEK
November 5-11, 2023 is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.
PATHWAY TO DISCIPLESHIP WRAP UP & WHAT’S NEXT EVENING
Peace to our Disciples of Jesus Christ who have participated in our first Pathway to Discipleship! You are invited to a one-evening reunion, to catch up with one another and learn more opportunities on how you can continue the journey.
The gathering will be on Wednesday November 29th from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. Like other sessions, we will provide a meal, childcare, Praise & Worship, a presentation, prayer time, and small group discussion. The topics presented will be how to continue your spiritual growth as individuals or in groups, and/or join in our parish ministry of evangelization or serve the parish in other ways. Please join us! EUCHARISTIC CARAVAN, MAY 16, 17, 18
Hop on board the Eucharistic Caravan to walk with Our Lord through the streets of San Francisco as pilgrims move towards Indianapolis for the National Eucharistic Congress this July. A pilgrimage is the simultaneous
movement of feet and soul to encounter God. This is a journey WITH Jesus. With the gift of the Eucharist, Jesus gave us a new way to walk alongside him. Do you want to accompany Jesus this May?

This weekend in lieu of the Maintenance Fund, OLG will hold a special collection for the Holy Land Emergency Relief Fund, to help those who are going through extreme difficulties in Gaza and Israel. Last Saturday, Nov 8, we were blessed to have 22 adults celebrate The Rite of Acceptance. We joyfully welcome all these Adults and ask our parish community.
Please pray for these men and women as they continue their faith journey in the months to come, preparing for initiation into the Christian faith by Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
