On this Third Sunday of Easter, our liturgy brings us to the road to Emmaus, where two discouraged disciples walk alongside a stranger who eventually reveals himself as the Risen Lord. Like them, we gather today to encounter Jesus in both the Word of God and the Breaking of the Bread. As we prepare for Mass, let us ask the Lord to open our eyes and set our hearts on fire with His presence.

Pascua de Resurrección, vivamos este tiempo no descuidándonos de nuestra relación con el Resucitado que camina con nosotros, en la familia, trabajo, clases, etc. ¿Y posiblemente dudamos, le cuestionamos decepcionados porque no nos ha solucionado alguna situación que estamos viviendo y queremos que Él nos la desaparezca? ¿No era ésta precisamente la sensación que llevaban dentro de sí los dos peregrinos, de vuelta a sus casas, desconsolados, frustrados y derrotados? ¿Dónde quedaban sus sueños y expectativas mesiánicas esperando participar de la gloria del reino? La muerte de su Maestro cortaba de raíz la perspectiva de futuro que se habían imaginado. Fue durante la comida al partir el pan que sus ojos se abrieron y de nuevo sus corazones se volvieron hacia Él y encontraron que era Jesús, que va cada día con todos, y así con nosotros también. La esperanza vuelve pero ahora en un compromiso concreto, tienen que ir a proclamar la experiencia vivida, y ahora ser ellos instrumentos de buena nueva , de resurrección, les contaron a los demás lo ocurrido. Así es hoy estamos invitados a vivir contando lo ocurrido para que otros crean, busquen, lo sigan, lo encuentren y tengan la esperanza de salvación con ellos, esa es nuestra tarea, todos nosotros a proclamar la buena nueva, es algo que hemos adquirido en el proceso de vivir cristianamente, anunciar la vida nueva con el Espíritu de Jesús Resucitado. STAMP OUT HUNGER FOOD DRIVE - MAY 9
OLG receives tons (literally tons) of food from this event. We are also working with House of Yahweh/South Bay Outreach so that both of our organizations can get food. Once we fill up our pantry, Yahweh will pick up all the additional food they can, along with other participating organizations. Thank you for supporting STAMP OUT HUNGER!
On Saturday, May 9, all you need to do is leave non-perishable food in a bag by your mailboxes, and then the letter carriers will pick up your food donation when they deliver the mail.

We are also looking for volunteers (with big trucks and strong backs) on Sat. May 9 to help us go to the Redondo Beach Main Post Office to pick up our portion of the Donations and drive the food back to the Parish Hall. Contact the OLG Church Office for details. Thank you!

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?
Every Catholic is called to protect the most vulnerable, including children who are at risk for abuse and exploitation.
If you are working with or around minors in the Catholic Church in the parish, sports, clubs, or school settings, you are required by the Archdiocese to complete the Safeguard the Children/Virtus training and a Live Scan, fingerprinted. If you are a parent volunteer and have been fingerprinted previously, you do not need to do it again. Contact the church office if you have questions.

NATIONAL VOCATION AWARENESS WEEK
November 5-11, 2023 is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.
PATHWAY TO DISCIPLESHIP WRAP UP & WHAT’S NEXT EVENING
Peace to our Disciples of Jesus Christ who have participated in our first Pathway to Discipleship! You are invited to a one-evening reunion, to catch up with one another and learn more opportunities on how you can continue the journey.
The gathering will be on Wednesday November 29th from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. Like other sessions, we will provide a meal, childcare, Praise & Worship, a presentation, prayer time, and small group discussion. The topics presented will be how to continue your spiritual growth as individuals or in groups, and/or join in our parish ministry of evangelization or serve the parish in other ways. Please join us! Hop on board the Eucharistic Caravan to walk with Our Lord through the streets of San Francisco as pilgrims move towards Indianapolis for the National Eucharistic Congress this July. A pilgrimage is the simultaneous
movement of feet and soul to encounter God. This is a journey WITH Jesus. With the gift of the Eucharist, Jesus gave us a new way to walk alongside him. Do you want to accompany Jesus this May?

This weekend in lieu of the Maintenance Fund, OLG will hold a special collection for the Holy Land Emergency Relief Fund, to help those who are going through extreme difficulties in Gaza and Israel. OCIA - Order of Christian Initiation of Adults
Last Saturday, Nov 8, we were blessed to have 22 adults celebrate The Rite of Acceptance. We joyfully welcome all these Adults and ask our parish community.
Please pray for these men and women as they continue their faith journey in the months to come, preparing for initiation into the Christian faith by Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
