This Sunday, our scripture readings remind us that even when the storms of life feel completely overwhelming, we are never abandoned by God. Through the quiet breeze that comforted Elijah and the hand of Jesus reaching out to a sinking Peter, God shows us that His love is constant.

Hola, paz y bien, este domingo es como un alivio, llamado de atención, aprendizaje, reflexión para todos nosotros. El profeta Elías experimenta un vacío, ha tenido dificultades en su misión, persecución y seguramente incluso hasta lo querían desaparecer, pues los demás no estaban de acuerdo con su mensaje. El , en un momento difícil y de crisis se aparta a buscar a Dios, a hablar, pensar, pero no lo encuentra en donde él piensa, y se le manifiesta en una sencilla brisa. Todos nosotros ocupamos estos momentos a solas con Dios, hemos estado caminando y en el caminar de todo se vive, cosas bonitas, feas, difíciles, enfermedades, malos entendidos, decepciones, bueno, que se yo, de todo. Hoy vemos a Jesús hablando con ternura y compasión y mucha comprensión hacia los discípulos que enfrentan miedo y crisis. Jesús, Dios, el Espíritu Santo, no dejan de extendernos la mano y decirnos, ánimo, no temas, Soy yo. Aquí voy contigo. Pensemos, ¿en quién estamos poniendo nuestra confianza, que estamos o dónde estamos esperando que El me solucione las cosas, estoy dejando de ver su mano, su brisa, su amor? Por estar más enfocado en lo que yo quiero y espero que sea así, como yo lo he pensado. Con corazón humilde tomemos su mano y escuchemos su palabra de aliento y esperanza, aun en medio de la crisis. THE SOLEMNITY OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY
On August 15th, the Church celebrates that Mary, the Mother of God, was assumed into Heaven at the end of her earthly life.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 974) teaches, “The Most Blessed Virgin Mary, when the course of her earthly life was completed, was taken up body and soul into the glory of heaven, where she already shares in the glory of her Son's Resurrection, anticipating the resurrection of all members of his Body.”
While this solemnity is not a holy day of obligation in 2026 because the date falls on a Saturday, we invite you to attend Mass at 8 AM to honor the Feast day.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?
Every Catholic is called to protect the most vulnerable, including children who are at risk for abuse and exploitation.
If you are working with or around minors in the Catholic Church in the parish, sports, clubs, or school settings, you are required by the Archdiocese to complete the Safeguard the Children/Virtus training and a Live Scan, fingerprinted. If you are a parent volunteer and have been fingerprinted previously, you do not need to do it again. Contact the church office if you have questions.

It is important to distinguish normal, age-appropriate curiosity from concerning sexual behaviors that may be inappropriate or potentially abusive. In general, developmentally appropriate behaviors will be playful, curious, and will be enacted among similar age groups. While these behaviors are not ideal in play, and should be discussed with children, they are typically not causes for concern. These moments can also serve as opportunities to talk about boundaries, appropriate behaviors and safe adults. NATIONAL VOCATION AWARENESS WEEK
November 5-11, 2023 is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.
PATHWAY TO DISCIPLESHIP WRAP UP & WHAT’S NEXT EVENING
Peace to our Disciples of Jesus Christ who have participated in our first Pathway to Discipleship! You are invited to a one-evening reunion, to catch up with one another and learn more opportunities on how you can continue the journey.
The gathering will be on Wednesday November 29th from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. Like other sessions, we will provide a meal, childcare, Praise & Worship, a presentation, prayer time, and small group discussion. The topics presented will be how to continue your spiritual growth as individuals or in groups, and/or join in our parish ministry of evangelization or serve the parish in other ways. Please join us! Hop on board the Eucharistic Caravan to walk with Our Lord through the streets of San Francisco as pilgrims move towards Indianapolis for the National Eucharistic Congress this July. A pilgrimage is the simultaneous
movement of feet and soul to encounter God. This is a journey WITH Jesus. With the gift of the Eucharist, Jesus gave us a new way to walk alongside him. Do you want to accompany Jesus this May?

This weekend in lieu of the Maintenance Fund, OLG will hold a special collection for the Holy Land Emergency Relief Fund, to help those who are going through extreme difficulties in Gaza and Israel. Last Saturday, Nov 8, we were blessed to have 22 adults celebrate The Rite of Acceptance. We joyfully welcome all these Adults and ask our parish community.
Please pray for these men and women as they continue their faith journey in the months to come, preparing for initiation into the Christian faith by Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
